A Unique Art Studio & Gift Shoppe
Where Creativity & Friends Meet

The Cottage Story
My passion for home and garden, watercolor and enjoying a full life has always been a part of who I am. I come from a highly creative family. Everyone stretched their creative identities but all in different ways. From painting to writing to furniture remodeling, creativity is in our blood. I discovered watercolor or maybe it discovered me many years ago. My love of watercolor led me to teaching, which led me down this path to creating my own studio and gift shop. My love for being with others created the necessity for a brick-and-mortar store and after discovering this yellow house, it seemed to fit the bill. Thus, the road to Black River Cottage began, a beautiful place where creativity and friends meet.

Living
Interior design is one of my many hobbies. I spend a great deal of time searching at thrift stores for just the right bargain piece to put into my shop or my own home. There are so many opportunities to take an old worn out, homeless item and make it new, give it a home and a new life again. Beautiful surroundings create a more peaceful and joyful life.

Creativity
Watercolor is a great friend and necessity in my life. I’ve been painting for many years and strive for a realistic look, by painting in a tight controlled manner using a very fluid medium. I also dabble in oil, pencil, torn paper art, and even crayons. I love to share my love of watercolor with others and give weekly classes.

Gardening
There’s nothing better than getting close to nature. I love being in the garden getting my hands dirty. Inspiration surrounds me while I'm in my garden. In the warmer months, you can find me either in my sunroom or back in my garden relaxing in the sun, designing my next flowerbed or planning my next painting.
