Challenges!

Watercolor is a challenging medium. It takes time and patience to master. So don't be too hard on yourself. Take your time and put in the practice. Learn to master water control first. The water controls the thickness of the paint, where the paint goes and how it moves. Water can create beautiful effects. Sometimes it's better to let the paint and water dance together without your interference. Start simple. Use only a few colors and practice painting. Draw several squares on your paper. Then play inside each square using more or less water. Notice how the paint reacts to the water. A lot of water and the paint rushes out and moves quickly. It runs. On damp paper, the paint walks out slowly, on dry paper the paint sits still. Understanding how the paint reacts on the paper is key. It will take some time to master, but it's fun learning and playing with watercolor. Just play and enjoy the challenge!
